Being a parent of a child with Cerebral Palsy (CP) brings unique challenges for the entire family. A lot of energy and attention is focused on the child with CP, but what about their siblings? Just as the parents are carers, these siblings are young carers. Young carers often shoulder responsibilities beyond their years, from assisting with daily tasks to providing emotional support. These young carers play a significant role in offering support to their sibling and they deserve a community and support around them too. Recognising this need, CPSN and Little Dreamers have partnered to provide a Peer Support program specifically tailored for young carers within the CPSN community.
Little Dreamers are Australia’s leading Young Carer organisation, supporting young people who provide unpaid care for a family member affected by disability, chronic or mental illness, substance use or frail age, in VIC, NSW and QLD. Through this partnership, young carers can connect with peers sharing similar experiences, fostering a sense of compassion and understanding. This supportive network becomes a safe space where they can share their triumphs, challenges, and emotions without judgment.

Eligible for young carers in CPSN’s network aged between 5-25 years
8-week program
Weekly one-hour sessions
In-person or online
Small groups based on age
Facilitated by two Little Dreamers staff

By supporting young carers, CPSN and Little Dreamers aren't just empowering individuals; they're strengthening families as a whole. Parents can find solace in knowing that their children are connecting with other like-minded young carers with similar experiences and receiving the support they need to thrive within the family.
