About the event

This webinar will be of interest to parents, grandparents, carers, support workers, therapists, and anyone else engaged in care, support, therapy and education of children with physical disabilities.

It will provide the opportunity to gain insights into the considerations, benefits and key features of 24-hour supportive equipment (also termed AT: Assistive Technology) for children with cerebral palsy and other physical disabilities. We will discuss what is Assistive Technology and how to get funding for it.

We will explore how supportive equipment:

  • Enables a child to build on their motor skills
  • Increases a child’s active participation and independence
  • Enables access to play, using your hands, communication and technology
  • Supports long term physical health and general wellbeing

We will also look into:

  • The purpose of using supportive equipment throughout the day
  • What are some of the barriers to having suitable equipment
  • How do you know whether your equipment is still suitable
  • What are some of the things to look out for when you’re choosing a new piece of equipment
  • Lived experience from a parent's perspective in supporting children with Assistive Technology
