Achieving Independence, Social and Economic participation

For NDIS participants, funding to support Social and Community activities falls under Core Supports. NDIS describes Social and Recreation activities as including examples like:

  • Visiting your friends and family
  • Active hobbies, such as bike riding, skiing or kayaking
  • Playing sport, such as tennis, surfing or basketball
  • Going out, to places such as the movies or a concert
  • Fun outings, such as shopping or visiting a museum
  • Relaxing activities, like meditation or yoga
  • Learning new skills, and taking classes such as dance, art or quilting

These supports may also be accessed through self-managed, privately funded, or court-appointed arrangements.
