Achieving Independence, Social and Economic participation
For NDIS participants, funding to support Social and Community activities falls under Core Supports. NDIS describes Social and Recreation activities as including examples like:
- Visiting your friends and family
- Active hobbies, such as bike riding, skiing or kayaking
- Playing sport, such as tennis, surfing or basketball
- Going out, to places such as the movies or a concert
- Fun outings, such as shopping or visiting a museum
- Relaxing activities, like meditation or yoga
- Learning new skills, and taking classes such as dance, art or quilting
These supports may also be accessed through self-managed, privately funded, or court-appointed arrangements.
