Support for Everyday Living
A support worker can help you at home with any or all of the following:
- Meal planning, grocery shopping and meal preparation
- Household chores - cleaning, tidying, laundry and lawn and garden maintenance
- Skill development and task planning to increase independence in carrying out household tasks - this may be with the guidance of allied health professionals like an Occupational Therapist

These supports may also be accessed through self-managed, privately funded, or court-appointed arrangements.

- David works with his support worker regularly to manage his schedule when living independently. They help him to balance various appointments, work, and assists him in helping to manage a household.
- Simone works with her support worker to go weekly grocery shopping, write meal plans together and prepare home-made meals.
- A support worker assists Tom's family to maintain a tidy and clean home environment, including cleaning medical and mobility equipment, after assisting him with his evening routine.
- A support worker supports a young client, Matilda, to teach her to develop skills to give her greater independence, including preparing simple meals and simple tasks such as packing her school bag for the next day.
