Behind CPSN with Anna: Meet our Senior Accounts Officer

Anna Balzarolo has been with CPSN for six years as our Senior Accounts Officer. Her career journey started in sales and marketing over 20 years ago, after which time she sought a change, retraining in Finance. Over the years Anna has also worked for various private financial businesses and other Not-for-Profit organisations. Anna enjoys working with a close-knit team who have a wealth of knowledge and experience. She likes the fact that she can help in an organisation that supports people in what she describes very modestly as a “small [but extremely important] role!!” She describes CPSN’s culture as ‘Inclusive, Supportive and Understanding.’

Can you give us a brief overview of your role as Senior Accounts Officer?

I play a key role in maintaining the day-to-day smooth Financial operations of CPSN.

My responsibilities include processing receipts, verifying and entering supplier invoices, and ensuring timely payments. I help to manage fornightly payroll, and raise invoices for four core programs: Individual Supports, Support Coordination, SIL House and Nursing. Other duties include banking, responding to email and debtor inquiries, and liaising with both internal and external stakeholders.

My finance experience in Disability was an area I wanted to continue working in, as my experience, knowledge of the NDIS and ongoing desire to support people in this sector is extensive. I like being part of an organisation where I can make some sort of contribution, even in a back-office support role.”

Are there any common misconceptions about CP and the Disability Ecosystem?

Everyone wants a good quality of life regardless of their issues, whether it be their physical and or Mental Health. Offering a more personal approach with confidence and experience puts people at ease and reflects in a positive way.

Outside of work, what are we most likely to find you doing? What are your hobbies and interests?

Art projects such as painting, stained glass and mosaic. I enjoy Pilates, hiking, reading, and travelling. I read anything and feel I prefer psychological thrillers and comedy. I have just finished ‘The Silent Patient’ by Alex Michaelides (my monthly book group book) and it was so addictive that I finished it in a few days. I’m also reading the ‘The Man who Died Twice’ by Richard Osman, the second book in the series and it’s quite funny even though it’s about Murder! The characters are hilarious.

What are your top three tips you can share with us that you’ve learnt over the years from being in your role and having the life experience that you do?

1.  Include everyone, we all just want the best for each other.

2.  Feel Supported and part of the Community.

3.  Understand and appreciate others.
